What are the ways that you can show love to a child?

What are the ways that you can show love to a child? In his excellent book, ‘Building resilience in children and teens’, Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg, lists several ways that you can do this.

  •  You tell them.
  • You see the best in them.
  • You protect them. They need to have boundaries around morality and safety. Keep them safe.
  • You discipline them. This must be done from a loving stance, the days of just randomly whipping children are over. We need to have more value in our children and future leaders.
  • You prepare them. The world is quite complicated, preparation is protection. You prepare them to be their best selves.
  • You are there for them. Be present, not just physically, but mentally. You can be sitting next to your child, and not be present.
  • You enjoy spending time with them.
  • You do things for them. Many parents think that this is the extent of their role of showing love to their child. This is only a small, minuscule part. If this is the entirety of what you consider showing love to the children in your care, you are not Blessing them for their future anointing.
  • You get out of their way when it is appropriate. Strength comes from figuring things out, they must be allowed to fail within the boundaries of your protection.
Show the children under your care love today.
